As a locksmith in Hayes I needed to install a Kryptonite vehicle lock as a result of thieves breaking in and stealing hundreds of pounds worth of equipment. These locks can be fitted to all vans as additional security and a physical deterrent.
1st Response also had to attend a home after neighbours caught thieves attempting to break into a home. When the lady returned home, she spoke to her insurance company to inform them of what happend. The insurance firm requested that she found a locksmith in Ruislip to check her security and to make sure her existing locks met the minimum British Standard. As the lady had double doors at the back it was necessary for her to have key operated bolts on the fixed door in order to meet the insurance requirements.
So the lady was not covered and if the burglars managed to gain access and steal anything, her insurance company would not have paid out. Please people, if you have home insurance, check your policy because you might not be covered and could get caught out!
